Well my Christmas decorating is finished for the season. I kept it very simple this year.. and maybe contained it to my dining room. Of course we have stocking hung from the fireplace and the kiddos have their tree as well in the front room. Well the kitchen counter if we are being technical... too many curious little hands and only one mama! Heres a peek at our very simple decorating this year.
The kiddos tree... it makes me laugh so hard. I let them completely handle it... oh my goodness. So funny.
The Hubcap made me the sweetest manger scene. And this sweet Christmas tree. I LOVE it!!
So I stumbled across this blog where a mama wrote down a bunch of facts that she wanted her kiddos to know about her. Loved it! So much fun. And so I thought it would be fun to do to show my kiddos one day. So here goes.. 1. I am a germaphobe. I really, really try not to be and I am really trying to get over it but really?!? When we go on a playdate/preschool/the store I literally think about almost the whole time the germs my kiddos are inhaling. I mean when I taught school my kiddos gave me Clorox wipes for Christmas. It's bad. 2. I don't pluck my eyebrows. I have only plucked my eyebrows once in the last 4 1/2 years. Mainly I think its a completly painful waste of time. So I'm not as vain as I might seem. 3. I could eat McDonalds every single day for every single meal. I think its delicious. But I also think its discusting all at the same time. 4. I actually just really love food. I love to cook and bake and try new things and pretend I am a foodie. 5. I worked at a fruit stand for 5 years through the college summers. I stood in the dirt and sold fruit to the masses. Ha! I also worked Farmers Markets. Besides being a mama this was my favorite job ever. Even in 110 degree weather I loved every minute. 6.Sis is actually baby #4. I had a miscarriage in between the two sisters. At the time I was devastated but now I cannot imagine my life without my sweetest baby girl. She is heavens grace to me. We have a special bond that is hard to explain. All of my babies are a gift of course but she is my reminder of God's faithfulness, of his sovereignty. 7. I have a hole in my heart and almost died when I was a baby. But people prayed and it closed up enough and no open heart surgery for this gal. 8. I really have a hard time with patience. Some days my hair literally feels like it might fall out. I pray for patience Every Single day. 9. I hate hotels. I would rather sleep in my car. And when I am FORCED to go to a hotel I bring my own sheets/blankets/pillows and no one takes their shoes off. Truth. 10. I would love to have a 4th baby but I am terrified to have a 4th c-section. Sometimes I wonder if I just like the idea/novelty of a 4th baby or the actual 4th baby itself. 11. I am a worrier. I worry when my kids dont eat/sleep, go to school, go to the park, drive down the road, when my husband goes out of town, when I leave my babies, etc. I try not to and Im working on it but it is a struggle. I worry if I don't have something to worry about. Dumb. But true. 12. Tom Brokaw was my crush in college. 13. I have only ever left my kiddos overnight to go have another baby. Mister has gone deer hunting but other than that I have never spent a night away from them. 14. My favorite colors are white and gold. I am BORING. 15. I am usually on time/early. I hate being late. It bothers me. I could really care less if anyone else is late but for me. I like to be on time. 16. My idea of a good time at this point in life is a full nights sleep, icy hot and a huge iced coffee. (Note to my babies. At this point in time you are 4, 2 1/2 and 8 months) 17. Sometimes I really HATE social media but then other times I love it. I love that I can be connected but also hate that I am so connected. 18. I am watching my kiddos play right now and they are my favorite ever. I LOVE them so much its overwhelming. 19,At this point in life I am in love with Lionel Richie and we listen to his music all the time and dance. I hope you remember that kiddos! Im Stuck on You! 20. I am turning 30 in a few months! Holy Cow!!! I feel 24. I don't think I act 30. I don't think I look 30. Hmm... not sure how I feel about this business.
November is here! So, so happy for Thanksgiving season. It is my favorite holiday, something about the simplicity of it all. This month the Hubcap and I are going to do a service project a day with the kids. Hardest thing for me as a parent is that I want to give them the world but also have a heart for the world. I so want to grow their little hearts into grateful ones... that think of others first! So far we have picked up trash from at the park, drew pictures for an elderly friend and helped load up big empty water bottles into Papa's truck. I decorated for Thanksgiving yesterday... here are some snapshots of my dining room.
So I have pretty much been the worst blogger ever. Today I knew I needed to at least upload some pictures so that I can still have a memory of this BUSY time... We have been going, going going and trying to keep a house clean, organized and functioning with three tinies is alot of work. But here is our life lately in a nutshell... just add a lot of cleaning of offices and churches, tutoring, art/cooking class, preschool and hunting season.
Hollywood with a touch of twang... oh this girl. So, so so fiesty. And sweet. Has to be wearing her sunglasses at all times. Even when she sleeps at night she wears them. And IF she has to wear pants she will scream for days if they touch her shoes. And her hair has to be in a bun or buns. So girly this one. All of her baby dolls names are Googy Anadore. Not really sure on that one...
We went on vacation to San Diego and this little one loved the beach. She loved the sand and chasing the seagulls. Oh I love my peanut.
So glad that I got a picture of Mister in his Curious George goes to the Beach shirt. He LOVES the beach.. we ran around and played soccer and monkey in the middle and we built a mermaid and a snowman out of sand. He cried when we left.
My Little Bo Peep and Sheep. Really I thought they couldn't get cuter and then they pulled this on me. But seriously, right?!?!
The girlies play in their kitchen all day. It is so cute. Little Miss insisted that they wear their matching aprons. So cute.
And Sis turned 7 months... like about 7 months ago. She weighs 7 pounds. Crawls and stands. Says Mama and Dada. Waves when she wants. Is as sweet and laid back as can be. Chooses when she laughs but is smiling almost always. Loves her mama soooo much. Never ever sleeps. Never ever. Loves to follow the older two around. And then come back to mama. To know her is to love her!!!
The girls Trick or Treat Bags. I was going to do a tutorial but really... I have no time. Ha! But just go google no sew ruffle and there you have it. I love them!!!
Our trip to the Apple Farm. Such a fun day. Love my "pod". Love my life. Blessed beyond measure.
So awhile back I saw on Pinterest a picture of a Minnie Mouse mobile. So in no way shape or form is this my idea, but I thought I would share how we made ours just because I could only find pictures..not tutorials.
I think the hardest part about this project was finding a cozy coupe that did not have eyes!!! All the new models have eyes and I just really didn't want that. So after about 4 months I found one for $5 and I snatched it up.
First we taped the little car up dividing it into two parts. We spray painted the bottom half white using a plastic, kid friendly spray paint. While it was drying I cut out circles using painters tape and when it was done drying I added the circles wherever I wanted along the bottom. Next came the coat of red spray paint over the white... After that had dried we covered the bottom half with old towels and spray painted the top half black.
My husband cut two circles out of a piece of plywood and the a bow shape. We spray painted both and he nail gunned them together. Then he screwed brackets into the top of the car and then bracketed the ears in. I added the white dots and voila! A Minnie Mouse Mobile! So easy and cheap and so much cuter than a regular old car...and Little Miss loves it!
We've had quite a few of our fall firsts around these parts...Little Miss got her first car, first trips to the Pumpkin Farm for the season, first fall crafts and treats and first fall hikes. And of course for Little Sis all of these are her VERY first. Love this time of year! Happy fall y'all!
So this weekend I gave away my kids toys.. sounds a little drastic I know, but it's true and probably not as drastic as it sounds. It all started about a month ago. I have been on a major downsize kick... we had a garage sale and then I have been getting rid of ALOT of my clothes...actually over half of them. So last month Mister was being super stubborn about cleaning his room. As in whine and complain about it and spend the ENTIRE evening picking it up. It boggled my mind because he really only had a few toys that he played with..how could his whole room be covered in things? So one night in a desperate state I set the timer and told him whatever was not cleaned up in 10 minutes would be put in a garbage bag and he could earn it back. 10 minutes went by, nothing had been touched and I filled a garbage bag full of stuff... a couple weeks went by and guess what? He didn't once ask for any of those toys. He didn't even miss them! That's when I decided I was going to get rid of it all. I watched my kiddos for a couple of weeks to see what they really played with and then yesterday afternoon I went in with two bags. One for trash and one for give away. And that was that. My girls now have one castle, their kitchen, one small basket of baby toys/stuffed animals and their shopping cart. Mister now has his race cars, his tracks up high in his closet, his little tool set, a football and train table/castle. That's it. I know that as soon as Sis is a little older I will be able to get rid of that basket of baby toys and they will each get to keep a doll and a stuffed animal. Maybe this sounds mean, but I really don't think it was. I was tired of spending so much time in a mess or cleaning up. My kids have been BLESSED beyond measure and that is exactly how I want them to feel... blessed not entitled. We explained to them where their other toys were going and there were a few complaints, not going to lie but they did end up understanding. Their toys went to a family in need and now I think they are able to enjoy the toys they do have even more.
So that's that. Yay for clean rooms, happy kids and happy mama's!
