Small style

This last week has been busy and LONG. I don't know if it was the freezy weather or what, but the days just dragged on.It has been a fun week of dates with my men and Little Miss. Usually the four of us do everything together but we've been so busy this week and had to part our separate ways. On Saturday and Sunday I got to take Little Miss to her first wedding and baby shower. Then Tuesday was our anniversary and Hubcap and I had a fun rollerskate date. We had originally planned to go to Bidwell and bike and swim but that did not happen due to thunderstorms... weird.  And then last night Mister and I went on a date to get "ice cream", (frozen yogurt). It was the first time Mister and I had been out alone since Little Miss was born and he was giddy with excitement! He kept saying "oh mommy" the whole time and laughing. He has not one time been jealous or mean to Little Miss which is pretty good for someone who is not even two and was used to all the attention. He shares his toys with her and is always trying to help me with her. And the highlight of the evening was when he wanted to buy her a Sesame Street shirt like his at Target and when we pulled up to the house he yelled her name and clapped. As a mama, my heart just melted....
Little Miss is wearing: Strawberry dress: Gymboree, Headband: Three Prather Babies
Mister is wearing his new shirt we got last night at Target! I love this shirt! Sesame Street is the one show that he gets to watch, we watch  every morning while we eat breakfast. I love Elmo, he's a saint.

Have another busy weekend coming up! Happy Weekend Friends!
Im linking in with Mama Loves Papa for small style.

Crockpot Wednesday: Creole Chicken

Today's crockpot recipe is Creole Chicken. I love creole seasoning, and I love to use alot of veggies in my dinner's so this recipe is perfect! You can make it as spicy or non/spicy as you want! Heres what you need.

2-4 chicken breasts, one onion (diced), three cloves of garlic (minced), 1 zuchinni (chopped), baby carrots, 1 small package of mushrooms, 1 can diced tomatoes with juice, 1/2 can of tomato paste, chicken broth (add to your liking), 1 can of jalapenos or chili's, 1 can black beans, Creole seasoning (to your liking), salt and pepper (to your liking)

First chop up all your veggies and garlic add to pot. I like my baby carrots whole and I only used half a thing of mushrooms because I don't really like them but Hubcap and Mister do.

Next you add the rest of your ingredients. You can add the chicken broth to make the sauce the consistency you like, I don't add too, too much to keep the sauce thicker. I add about 1 1/2 tblsps of Creole, but it's all up to you!

Then all you do is cook on Low for 10-12 hrs or High 5-6.

We eat our's over rice. Tonight we will have this with cantelope and corn on the cob. This is really healthy and filling which is good, but has alot of flavor, the best of both worlds. Happy eating!

Unfortunetly blogger won't let me add any pictures...bleck.

Miss Crafty Pants Monday

This weekend Mister and I made rainbow yogurt popsicles. I've seen these made with Jello and Koolaid but we don't really eat or drink either of those. I wanted to make them a little bit healthier. Here's how we did it. First this is what you need. Small paper cups, popsicle sticks and 12 containers of yogurt. I used strawberry, peach, lemon, Key lime Pie, blueberry and boysenberry.  You need two of each flavor.
Next Mister and I started with the strawberry yogurt. We put a layer in the bottom of the cup, about a really large spoonful. This will take a very special helper.

I put them in the freezer for 25 minutes. Then I took them out and repeated with every color of yogurt, freezing for 25 minutes after every layer except the last. I froze the "purple" layer for 10 minutes, then added the popsicle sticks. Then I froze them overnight, but it would probably only take 3 hours if you really wanted to eat them!

To take them out I just ran the cup under warm water for a few seconds and out it came! So pretty. A little dissapointed that the blueberry was purple, but oh well.

Finally enjoy. As you can see Mister did.

On another crafty note Mister and I made these little love birds this morning in honor of mine and Hubcap's anniversary tommorrow. All I did was cut out a bunch of different hearts with different colored paper and Mister glued them together.

I know that these crafts are super easy but I'm working with an almost two year old here so it can't be too complicated. Happy Crafty Monday!

Crockpot Wednesday

Crockpot Wednesday is back! When I stayed home with Mister the year after he was born, I started Crockpot Wednesday. Now that I'm staying home again, I thought I would start it up again.
Today's recipe: Salsa Chicken(its as easy as it sounds)
First these are the ingredients you will need:
one can of your favorite salsa
                                                                  3-4 chicken breasts
                                                                  1 tblsp cumin
                                                                  1 tblsp chili powder
                                                                  1-2 ears of corn
                                                                  1 can black beans

Pour salsa into your crockpot. Add your cumin and chili powder then mix. Place chicken in crockpot and cover with salsa mixture. Cover and cook on Low for 6 hrs or High for 4 hrs.

About a half hour before serving, shred chicken. Cut corn off the cob(you can also use a can of corn of course, I just like fresh)  and add to crockpot. Also add your black beans.
Serve in tortillas. I found these cook yourself tortillas in the refrigerated section and they were very good and not very expensive. We like ours with lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole and sour cream. These burrito's are so good and obviously super easy! Enjoy!

Miss Crafty Pants Tuesday

We're learning our colors around here! So far Mister has mastered "green". So for our craft of the week I decided to do a color learning project.

First I wrote down the names of the primary colors on paper and let Mister color with that color. We practiced saying the names while he colored and I pointed to the color.

Next I found items around the house that were the primary colors such as scrabook paper, felt, fake flowers, etc. I laid the pictures out and then I had Mister figure out which item went with each picture. We then taped it on. He actually did really well. :)

Finally I hung them up in the laundry room over his chalkboard wall so that we could practice them. He still really only says "Green" but at least he knows the difference in his colors. Pretty easy craft!
