Sometimes I hide from my neighbors so I don't have to be social. Sometimes I make my kids hide in their rooms and be super quiet and I hide in the laundry room, and we all whisper just so nobody will think we are home.

#scarring them for life

Sometimes I let my kid wear outfits like the above out in public.
# free expression

Sometimes I feed my kids macaroni and cheese and corn dogs for dinner and Inn N Out for lunch. Sometimes I eat it too. And my husband. Sometimes it tastes absolutely, lazily delicious.
# dont judge

Sometimes I type up my grocery list on the computer as I look at recipes and then am too lazy to have my husband print them at work or rewrite them so I just take a picture with my camera phone.

# resourceful

Sometimes my kids think its really funny to pretend the baby doll has a dirty diaper and they say the word Poop over and over and over again and laugh and laugh and laugh, and I don't say a word. Sometimes I record saying such things with my phone. Sometimes I teach them how to change diapers and secretly hope they will apply such knowledge to Baby #3.

# wishful thinking

# 6
Sometimes instead of stories before bed we have Elvis dancing parties. Sometimes my kid can sing almost all the words to hunk of burning love. Sometimes I encourage the singing of said song. Sometimes the dance parties go out of control and little curly haired babies get knots the size of Texas on their head and then Mommy has freak out sessions and makes baby sleep with her and daddy all night.

# so much for skipping naptime so bed time could be early

Sometimes I have laundry piles the size of Mt. Everest in my hallway. Sometimes I do not plan on folding or putting them away before my mother comes over tomorrow.

# please lovely mother do not look on the the OTHER side of my bed

Sometimes confessions make the world seem better.

Apple Raspberry Streusel Bars

We are having our first rainy day of the season around here. I'ts been a nice slow day, with homeade apple cider in the crock pot and a few Halloween crafts.
We made these silly little Jack O Lanterns last week. I saw the idea on Pinterest and knew the kiddo's would love em.

Little Miss and I had craft morning this morning and made this little spider and these Frankensteins. Mister decided he would rather play race cars...such a boy. It was fun to just to crafts with Little Miss for a change though.

I made this ridiculous cake last week. Its supposed to be a lot  rounder, but my bottom bundt cake fell apart. But Mister and Hubcap still loved it....

Onto one of my favorite fall treats. I made these bars two times last week and will probably make another batch this week. I got this recipe out of the Taste of Home cookbook from a long time ago.  They are so good, especially with a cup of coffee for breakfast, or with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream. Yum.

Apple Raspberry Streusel Bars

2 1/2 cups of flour plus
2 tblsps flour
2 cups old fashioned oats
3/4 cup of white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tsps baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup butter melted
3 cups thinly sliced, peeled Granny Smith apples
1 jar raspberry preserves
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 375.

In a large bowl mix the 2/12 cups of flour, oats, sugar, baking powder and cinnamon. Add in butter until just moistened. Set aside 2 cups and pat remaining mixture into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake for 10-15 minutes.

Next, toss your apples with the 2 tablespoons of flour and stir in the preserves. Spread over the hot crust, withing 1/2 inch of the edges. Sprinkle remaining mixture and walnuts over the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes longer or until lightly browned. Cool completley. Enjoy!!

From Bon Appetit to Nothing Runs Like A Deere...

The kids are down for naps and Hubcap is out moving horses from one horse property to another so I thought I would pop on really quick and post pictures of the kiddos Halloween costumes for this year. We went to a fall festival last night and so they have already gotten to wear them... I have to admit they are pretty cute!!!

My little farmer! Oh my stars this boy was so excited about his tractor costume!! He kept asking, "It's my birthday?"" over and over and over again. I'll admit that Hubcap and I had a really good time putting this costume together as well. Ok, honestly the Hubcap did most of the work, he is more of a perfectionist and I knew it would turn out perfect if he put it together...So I helped paint.... the yellow parts. Haha.

The back. Caution slow moving vehicle and real reflectors!!

The front.
Oh little man you are the cutest thing. So happy to see you so happy!

On to my little Julia Child. My Little Miss LOVES her food and so it was only fitting that she would dress up as the lady who mastered the art of French cooking. The rubber chicken is actually supposed to be the duck, the one she debones in the movie... imaginations people, imaginations!

One of poor Little Miss Julia's sauces must not have come out right because she had a complete meltdown while we were taking pictures.

But then Daddy and Brother pretended to eat Mommy's head and how can you not laugh at that?!?
Bon Appetit Little One.... you rocked those pearls.

Tomorrow I will be back with a yummy Apple Berry Streusel recipe that I have had for years and LOVE to make during the fall. Happy Sunday evening!

It's fall y'all

First things first...I canceled my Facebook account and I found/find it to be very liberating. I all of a sudden got the urge to just cancel it, and did it on a whim. I like to think that it gives a sense of mystery about me..haha, My mom was not as happy about my liberating experience because now she won't see pictures of the kiddo's as often, but I promised her I would post more on my blog. So here it is mom.
Our fall has been packed full of fun! We have already been to the Pumpkin Farm three times, Apple Hill and gone on fall nature hikes. We've thrown in a few fall crafts too, just for fun. Here's a peek at our fun days...
