My baby girl turns one this week... to say that was the fastest year ever would be the understatement of the century. Holy Toledo.. that was fast. I feel like I just left my 6 week checkup with the doctor, but say it aint so, I will be leaving Peanuts one year check up instead.
So anyways anyone who knows me well knows I love a good party. With a good theme. And this one might be my most favorite yet. Anyone ever read the book On The Night You Were Born by Nancy Tillman? Ok if you haven't you need to. With a box of Kleenex. Hands down sweetest book ever. Little Miss GK was born at night and it was such a magical, special, perfect time. And so I chose this as the theme of her party. The words of the book are the captions for the pictures... with little snippets in parenthesis with how I did it..etc) The book isn't super girly, and I wanted the party to definitely be girly so I added pink and instead of big music notes I chose to use book pages to give it a shabby chic vibe... So here you go...
On the night you were born, the moon smiled with such wonder that the stars peeked in to see you and the night wind whispered, "Life will never be the same."
Because there had never been anyone like you... ever in the world.
So enchanted with you were the wind and the rain that they whispered the sound of your wonderful name.
It sailed through the farmland high on the breeze... who in the world is exactly like you, who, who who
Over the ocean... (Ocean water, Goose Juice)
And through the trees...
Until everyone heard it and everyone knew of the one and only ever you.
Not once had there been such eyes, such a nose, such silly, wiggly wonderful toes.
When the polar bears heard they danced until dawn
From faraway places the geese flew home
The moon stayed up until morning next day
And none of the lady bugs flew away.
So whenever you doubt just how special you are and you wonder who loves you how much and how far..
Listen for geese honking high in the sky, (They're singing a song to remember you by)
Or notice the bears asleep at the zoo. (It's because they've been dancing all night for you!)
Or drift off to sleep to the sound of the wind (Listen closely... it's whispering your name again!)
If the moon stays up until morning one day, or a lady bug lands and decides to stay,
Or a little bird sits at your window awhile,
It's because they're all hoping to see you smile...
For never before in story or rhyme (not even once upon a time) has the world ever known a you, my friend, and it never will, not ever again..
(timeline of the night she was born)
Heaven blew every trumpet and played every horn on the wonderful, marvelous night you were born.
You are loved.
